ballpoint

I think I need to do more ballpoint pen sketches. It's so much faster than most other media and it's hard to get hung up on being perfect when it's ballpoint. Maybe it's just a lifetime of doodling at work. My brain accepts that ballpoint doodles don't have to be perfect or "finished" to be good enough.

Lovely! I really like the simplicity.

Agreed, it‘s lovely. Anything that prevents perfectionism is a godo thing IMO - so go do ballpoint! I know I get fed up with watercolour (the *layers*) regularly and go back to pencil or ink, my comfort media.

I really like drawing with ballpoint pens - you can get some really subtle effects, use it very like pencil

That is beautiful! It looks very realistics.

Ballpoint is a great choice for working en plein air because it's no muss, no fuss. You can stick a pen and a tiny sketchbook in your pocket and walk to the park.

Ever try sketching candy wrappers? I've seen some amazing art of those. They have so much texture.
