sketchbook #3 (2018)

Art spam!

This is just a fraction of the drawings in sketchbook #3, so more art spam will follow in the coming days.

sketchbook #3 (2018-2019
This was a hardbound Blick sketchbook, 8.5x11 inch, 65 lb (98 gsm) paper, 110 sheets.

It occurs to me that it would be much simpler to cross-reference things if sketchbooks had page numbers on them. (These are not actual page numbers because, despite this feeling like obsessive art spam, I'm honestly not including every page of this sketchbook.)

02: This sketchbook was the first time I'd ever used alcohol markers.

04: Yup, it's Jared again.

03 & 05: Tiny aliens driving spaceships/robots is a classic doodle I've been doing since high school.

06 & 07: Drawn for the same art prompt: "Boy and his Demon Guardian" (except I didn't see why this needed to be limited to just boys)

08: This was honestly just going to be shading practice using generic industrial shapes, but then I spilled juice on the page and decided to mask it with blood splatter and the next thing I knew the drawing had a whole plot.

11 & 12: Another pair from one art prompt: "A Mage Enchants a Weapon". I felt like "weapon" could be loosely defined here.

14 & 15: Unsatisfying figure drawing practice made better with bold color.

16: I credit this single "How to Draw an Ear" tutorial from Mark Crilley for me finally understanding how to draw human ears.

Love the detail and humor in the octopus one.
