2022 art prompts finished in 2023

2022 Drawtober, day 4: prompt = letter
2022 Drawtober, day 5: prompt = dark

I drew the basic drawing for the letter last year and didn't get around to coloring it in until this year. This was right about when last year's Drawtober just fell apart for me. I have to rant yet again how much I hate this sketchbook. You can see how I had to wedge it open with binder clips just to get this picture.

The only part of this page that I filled in last year was the sloppy prompt title at the bottom.

2022 Drawtober, day 7: prompt = tea

I drew this one last year, just as a simple black line drawing, and colored it in this year. The spoon annoys me, but I'm fond of the tablecloth.

I would be very proud of that tablecloth. The wood grain is impressive too, in the pic above. Thank you for showing us, I am enjoying the colour and the feels.

The wood grain effect is fun because it's one of the few "cool tips" that I've followed that was actually easy. And it's one of the rare instances where a streaky marker isn't a problem (it's practically an advantage). If you go over it with colored pencil, you can get a super realistic effect, but I'm lazy and that wouldn't have fit the style anyway.

Yay for completing so many prompts! Love the colous and the woodgrain in the first one, and I can feeeel the gravity in that prompt.

Woodgrain is fun because it's fast and easy. No need to hide the streaks or blend out imperfections. (Years ago, I watched a tutorial that did an almost photo-realistic depiction of a wood carving. I keep meaning to try that again.)

I always joke that "somebody turned the gravity setting up too high today" on those days when everything feels too hard. I've been having that kind of weekend actually. How can doing nothing feel so exhausting?
