I mentioned I have too many sketchbooks.
Jun. 16th, 2023 07:46 pmI haven't really started sketchbook #15. This is just the inside of the front cover and a swatch page on the last page.

The Crayola markers look pretty crappy on this paper. (I mean it's also the markers because they're just Crayola children's markers, but they aren't quite as bad on other paper.)
I'm actually very happy about this sketchbook. Look how big it is! And it was only $10 at Target. The paper quality doesn't even look bad, I'll just have to remember to limit it to pencil and ink. I'm declaring this the new junk sketchbook and I'm looking forward to using it. (#10 is the current junk sketchbook and it has five pages left to fill up.)
"Junk" sketchbooks are those sketchbooks that don't have to be pretty or polished and I give myself permission to fill up with unoriginal copies of art tutorials, etc. It's always nice to have at least one crap sketchbook in process.
Anyway, current sketchbooks in process:

This is possibly too many sketchbooks to have in-process at one time, but, as I said, I've almost filled up #10 (the spiral-bound one with spirals scribbled on the cover).
And I have no less than THREE blank sketchbooks just waiting for me to finish filling up more of the above.

- Pictured above
- sketchbook 10 (Blick, spiral-bound, hardcover), not that great for water-based media or colored pencil, but good for pencil and ink
- sketchbook 12 (Talens Art Creations), small hardcover (the little blue one in the picture). This is my travel sketchbook and it's one of my favorites.
- sketchbook 13 (Strathmore, spiral-bound, softcover), designed for colored pencils, it's thicker paper and seems to work okay for watercolors too.
- sketchbook 14 (Crescent Rendr, softcover), works great with marker, even Sharpie doesn't bleed through the pages, but I hate the floppy soft binding and it's bound so tight, it's hard to hold open to draw.
- sketchbook 15 (Mondo Llama, hardcover), will probably be best for just pencil and ink (but let's be honest all of my sketchbooks end up being mixed media anyway).
And I have no less than THREE blank sketchbooks just waiting for me to finish filling up more of the above.
