More art spam! (This project is making me obsessive. Also, I'm probably using this as a distraction to avoid all my other chores.)

sketchbook #2:

Strathmore (Colored Pencil) spiral (top) binding, soft cover 30 sheets (60 pages) 6x8 in 100 lb (163 gsm) paper 2018 June to 2019 December

Look how few colored pencil drawings I ended up doing in the sketchbook that was specifically designed for colored pencil. ::sigh:: I have a chance at a do-over. Sketchbook #13 is identical. I really need to avoid wasting pages on the wrong medium.

Oooh the skin tones on that Jensen/Dean profile pic are beautiful!

This is absolutely the best Jensen/Dean drawing that I've ever managed. I started with an under layer of alcohol markers (Blick because I'm too cheap for Copic, I don't remember which colors but I'm always having to refill the "light peach" so that's probably my go-to flesh tone for pale skinned people, actually even dark skinned people in the highlights) and then did colored pencil on top (Faber Castell, I think). It came out much richer than when I've tried colored pencil alone. It's weird because you can't exactly see the marker layer underneath, but it definitely helped because then the colored pencil wasn't having to fight against the white of the paper if that makes sense.

I'm sure that means none of this is lightfast/archival, but it's in a sketchbook that is closed 99.9% of the time and the only people who see it are looking at the digital copy anyway.

Ah that totally makes sense, a nice base colour to layer the pencil over. As for archival, yeah, I don't worry about that for sketchbook stuff either.
