Challenge #1: update your fandom information
Profile updated. Sticky post created. (Both could probably use some work, but something is better than nothing and "good enough" is kinda the mantra this year.)
Challenge #2: set some goals for the coming year
Post regularly in 2022.
Challenge #3: put some favorite characters into an AU, fuse some favorite canons together, talk about your favorite AU/fusion tropes, or tell us why AU/fusions aren’t your cup of tea
Some fusions exist only in my own brain. I haven't done anything with the idea, but my brain has solidly filed all of these characters into the same slot in my head and I almost struggle to remember that they are *not* the same character.
And Topaz is literally a "fusion" of two gems so... you could totally write a crossover fanfic where Topaz, Scorpia, and Brienne literally become one. I'm too lazy to write it, but I would totally read it. So, free idea! (Topaz is canonically the fusion of two smaller characters also named Topaz. What if Topaz #1 and Topaz #2 were AU Scorpia and AU Brienne?)
For those not familiar...
Top row: Topaz from Steven Universe
Middle row: Scorpia from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
Bottom row: Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones and actress Gwendoline Christie on the red carpet
Challenge #4: make a list of things that you wish existed in fandom or elsewhere, and/or that you'd like someone to create or do for you
See challenge #3, above. Somebody make that fusion happen!
Also, and this might sound odd as a wish-list item, but I'd really like it if someone had some project requests for me. Does anyone want icons? "Cover art" for your fic? Anything? I feel like my photo-editing skills are getting rusty, but I'm unmotivated if I try to just practice stuff with no clear goal. Repeat: my wish list item is *clear goals*. If you say "Anything you want to make is great!" it goes right back into the amorphous heap in my brain labeled "Stuff I want to do eventually that will never actually happen."
Challenge #5: talk about an idea you wish you had the time / talent / energy to do
All the things! I need to circle back around to this challenge and get more specific, but for me it's not just a lack of energy, it's a lack of focus. Which means "all the things!" is a terrible answer.
Challenge #6: create something
(just including this as a placeholder so I don't forget to come back and do this one)

Re: cover art / icons
Date: 2022-02-17 09:42 pm (UTC)From:My method for these sorts of thing is to create a folder for the project and then start searching for all the images I can find and save them to that folder. I'll always end up with more images than I use, but in the editing stage sometimes the picture that I thought would be perfect just doesn't work for some reason and an alternate choice works instead.
Here's my gallery of cover art so you can see the sorts of things I've come up with before.

Date: 2022-04-15 01:43 am (UTC)From:Even without a better image, I can still blur out the old letters and put in a new header. You can sort of see that it's smudgy behind the letters, but it's not terrible.
If you find the photo you wanted to use instead, let me know. (Also, if there's a better font I should use, et cetera.)

Here are examples of "better" fonts don't look great this small:
